Mayor Olivia Chow announced a new City of Toronto initiative that will include modern and welcoming lobby furniture, charging stations and access to public Wi-Fi at 126 Community Recreation Centres by the end of this year. Access to public Wi-Fi is part of the City’s ConnectTO program that aims to provide convenient and reliable internet access for all Torontonians regardless of income, education level, employment status, demographics or where they live.

SESI Grant Program

Mayor Olivia Chow announced the City of Toronto’s new Special Events Stabilization Initiative (SESI), a one-time pilot grant program providing a total of up to $2 million in financial relief to local special event organizers affected by rising operating costs, especially those related to health, safety and security of the general public and event attendees.

#BeSunSafe

The City of Toronto is bringing back the #BeSunSafe program to raise awareness about sun safety and offer free sunscreen at select parks in Toronto. This year, the #BeSunSafe program will offer 50 sunscreen dispensers in select parks along Toronto’s waterfront and throughout High Park, two sunscreen dispensers on HTO to Go water trailers and 150 canopy tents for use at #CampTO, #ParksPlayTO and #SummerInTheSix.

The City of Toronto is committed to supporting vulnerable populations by assisting low-income seniors and low-income individuals with disabilities through its Tax & Utility Relief programs. The City offers various programs including the Property Tax Increase Cancellation Program, Property Tax Increase Deferral Program, Water Rebate Program and Solid Waste Rebate Program, each with separate eligibility criteria based on age, income and other factors.
