Dear friends and neighbours,

Flu season is beginning, and it is important for everyone who can be vaccinated to get their flu shot. While the flu vaccine does not protect against COVID-19, it will protect you against the flu and reduce your chance of getting very sick. It also helps protect our health care system from being overwhelmed with additional patient visits.

To help residents prepare, the West Toronto Healthcare team is hosting outdoor flu clinics a short drive away from Ward 5 on Saturday, November 6, 2021. The clinics will run from 9:00 am–3:00 pm at Silver Creek Park and LAMP Community Health Centre. Flu shots will be available to anyone aged 6 months and older, including residents without an Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).

The West Toronto Ontario Healthcare team is also hosting a virtual Town Hall on flu and COVID-19 vaccines on November 9, 2021, from 6:00 pm–7:00 pm. Two doctors from the team will attend to answer questions about flu shots, third doses for COVID-19 vaccines, COVID-19 vaccinations for kids, and how to get involved with the West Toronto Ontario Health team. To register for the Town Hall, click here.

Sincerely,
Frances
