Dear parents of York South—Weston,

Recently, the Ontario Government enacted BILL 197, which will determine how municipalities generate funding from development activity. The changes mean that the City must update three primary growth-related funding tools:

  • Development Charges

  • Alternative Parkland Dedication Rate

  • Community Benefits Charges (replaces Section 37 density bonusing)

Funding collected from the tools listed above helps pay for the critical infrastructure and services that support residents and businesses (e.g. roads, sewers, childcare, libraries, parks, and emergency services).

This is a matter that will affect how the City of Toronto pays for its short and long-term growth. Please visit toronto.ca/growth-funding-tools and register for an information session to share your priorities and feedback.

Sincerely,
Frances
